Powers Lake Housing Inc. is a group of investors committed to helping our community prosper and grow by supplying new housing in hopes of enticing new residents.

 

The City of Powers Lake has, as most of the smaller towns in North Dakota, been losing population for many years. We have been more fortunate than some to have kept a very vigorous business district.

 

With this in mind, and the desire to keep our little town from disappearing, a group of citizens got together and formed a housing corporation. This is an idea that has been discussed for years and it seemed with the oil industry becoming more active in the area, the time was right to try something.

 

We held several informal meetings to try and come up with a plan, and we settled on forming a housing corporation and began selling shares which are valued at one thousand dollars each. The general consensus of the group was to hold the minimum investment at five thousand dollars. We also decided that the objective of the corporation was to help Powers Lake grow and hopefully make a little money in the process, but profit is not our main goal.
